Fundy Parkway | Flower Pot Rocks Trail

Hey, Rumor here! I’m the one on the left, leading the way on our latest tail-wagging adventure! Today, we’re exploring the Flower Pot Rock Trail along the beautiful Fundy Parkway in New Brunswick. This trail is a real treat for us pups and our humans, offering stunning views, a mix of trail surfaces, and a bit of history too. Let’s dive in!
Trail Overview
Location: Fundy Trail Parkway, St. Martins, NB
Distance: 1.5 km one way (3 km loop if combined with the multi-purpose trail)
Difficulty: Easy, but there’s a climb to get back up to the road at the end that humans may find challenging.
Dog-Friendly: Yes, but dogs are supposed to be on a leash.
Scenic Views: Beautiful lookouts with views of the rugged Fundy coastline.
Trail Condition: Well-maintained, but watch for sections with tall grass.
Other Notes: Be prepared for some wet shoes if it’s been raining, and keep an eye out for ticks after walking through grassy areas.
The Adventure Begins
We kicked off our hike from Parking Lot 2, crossing the road to start on the multi-purpose trail. This part of the trail is wide enough for humans to walk side by side, but Keisha and I like to compete for the lead—no surprise there! The multi-purpose trail offers a scenic overlook of the sea, though it’s close to the road, so watch out for cars. You might meet a few other friendly hikers, especially near the lookouts, but it’s never too crowded.
Descending to Flower Pot Rock
After a little while, we reached the Fownes Head Lookout and took the stairs down to the Flower Pot Rock Trail. I got some much-loved off-leash time along a quiet section where no one was around—don’t tell anyone, but I was supposed to stay on leash! Keisha stayed on her leash, though, since she’s not as spry as she used to be, and she has a habit of losing track of us because she can’t hear so well these days.
The path soon turned into a grassy surface, which was a bit damp from the recent rain. Humans, beware—your shoes might get a little soggy! And pups, be sure your humans check you for ticks after this stretch, especially if the grass is tall.
Taking in the Views
Even though the trail winds through some tree-covered areas, there are several lookouts with breathtaking views of the rugged Fundy coastline. The first lookout after descending the hill is a must-see—it overlooks the Flower Pot Rock. This rock formation used to have a tree growing on top, making it look like a flower pot, but a storm in 2022 knocked it over. Now, there’s some new growth starting on top, so it still kind of looks like a flower pot—just with a fresh new look!
Wrapping Up the Hike
As we neared the end of the Flower Pot Rock Trail, the path widened, giving us more space to stretch out and enjoy the last bit of our hike. The final part of the trail leads uphill, back to the parking lot. I had no problem scampering up, but I can’t say the same for the rest of the pack—humans can be so slow sometimes!
That’s it for today’s adventure! This hike was pawsitively awesome, and I can’t wait to share our next trail review with you. Until then, keep those tails wagging and those paws moving!
