Fundy Parkway | Long Beach Brook Falls Loop

Woof! Rumor here, ready to guide you through another pawsome adventure. Today, my humans, my sister and I explored the Long Beach Brook Falls Loop on the Fundy Trail Parkway, and let me tell you, this place has it all—hills, brooks, waterfalls, and even a secret beach!

Trail Overview

Location: Fundy Trail Parkway, St. Martins, NB
Distance: 2.4 km loop with an optional 2.6 km add-on for a total of 5 km
Difficulty: Moderate. The trail includes a steep climb with a few tricky spots requiring rope.
Dog-Friendly: Absolutely!
Scenic Views: The trail winds through the woods, with a beautiful brook running along the second half of the hike.
Trail Condition: Well-maintained, natural paths. The trail is very well marked with Blue signs on the trees.

We parked at P13, which is a great spot to start the loop. You have two options: go right across a little bridge or head left along the road for a short bit until you see the trail diving into the woods. We chose to start by going right.

The Climb to the Top

Right off the bat, the trail gets serious! After crossing the bridge, we hit a narrow gravel path that winds through the brush. Soon enough, we found ourselves climbing some log stairs, which led us deep into the woods. The path steepened quickly as we ascended about 93 meters—yeah, it was a bit of a workout, even for a fit pup like me! The path is narrow and natural, with a few switchbacks to make it easier, but watch out for roots. My paws handled it like a champ, though my humans had to be extra careful.

Once we hit the highest point, it was all downhill from there—literally. The descent was steep, but it led us straight to the best part: the waterfall!

Cooling Off by the Falls

The waterfall is about 15 feet high and spills over a slanted rock face into a pool that’s perfect for a quick dip. I splashed around while my humans relaxed on the rocks. It’s a great spot to take a break, especially on a warm day. The woods can get pretty hot with little breeze, but it’s always cool by the falls.

If you’re up for more exploring, there’s a short path to the right of the falls where you can check out the brook above. We do this if there are too many people at the falls, but today it was just right.

The Return Journey

After cooling off, we continued the loop. The trail flattened out, but there were still a few tricky sections that required some care . My sister needed a little help from Dad, but I was too busy sniffing out all the interesting smells. The trail widened as we followed the brook back to the parking lot, passing some cool remnants of an old mine site—humans love that historical stuff.

At the end of the trail, we found a rope to help us get back to street level. A short walk along the road brought us back to P13. If you’re feeling a bit tired or just want to avoid the climb, you don’t have to do the full loop; sometimes we just take the trail that runs along the brook and head back the same way.

Bonus Adventure: Long Beach

But wait, there’s more! If your humans still have some energy, drag them over to Long Beach, right across from the parking lot. There’s a pathway and stairs leading down to the beach. The first bit is rocky and usually full of tourists, but if you head right and cross the stream, you’ll find a long stretch of sandy beach—my kind of place!

Low tide reveals a nice, wide sandy area perfect for running and exploring. I love to zoom around in circles, run into the water, or sniff out the seaweed and crabs left behind by the tide. It’s a pretty secluded spot, so you’ll have plenty of space to play.

In total, this is an amazing duo that makes for a fantastic 5 km day of hiking and exploring. I give it five paws!

Rumor’s Rating

Rumor has it, this trail’s steep climbs and hidden beaches will leave your tail wagging (or butt wiggling in my case) for more!
